Statement by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince following the decision by the United States of America to withdraw from the Paris Agreement

“This decision represents a very serious error of judgment for our planet and for future generations. It also weakens America’s global leadership and compromises the country’s own economic interests by underestimating the growth prospects offered by a low-carbon economy based on technological innovation.

I want to believe that the states, the people and cities in American states which are already engaged in a virtuous cycle of transformation and those who understand the importance of this for future generations, will continue their efforts to promote low-carbon, sustainable and resilient economic growth.

More than ever, the Principality of Monaco stands by its commitment to the fight against climate change with ambitious targets which exceed those set out in the Paris Agreement. I call upon all nations of the world, signatories to this Agreement, to continue and confirm their commitments in support of a cause that affects the preservation of the Earth and of humanity.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
