Ove Hoegh-Guldberg is Professor of Marine Science and Director of the Global Change Institute at The University of Queensland. He is also an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow (2014-2018).
Best known for his work on climate change and coral reefs (over 250 publications), Ove has also held positions with the University of Sydney, Stanford and UCLA and has worked with a wide range of partners including NOAA, Greenpeace, Rio Tinto, Catlin Insurance Group, and WWF. He is among the most cited scientists in the area of climate change, as well as being an active teacher and science communicator, recently deploying Massive Open On-line learning at the University of Queensland on key ocean subjects.
Ove chaired the recent Blue Ribbon Panel for the Global Partnership for Oceans, and is the Coordinating Lead Author for the Oceans chapter in the recent IPCC Fifth Assessment report.
