The Yersin was built in Concarneau, Brittany by the shipyard Piriou, which specializes in ships designed to work far from their base. The Yersin was launched on June 20, 2015 in Monaco in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II.
After two test campaigns in 2015 and 2016, in hot and cold/ice zones, the Yersin is now fully operational with a crew of 22 people and equipment ready for extended expeditions.
