A look back at the DIDEM Thematic School in the Seychelles

A look back at the thematic school held from June 10 to 14, 2024 in the Seychelles. The theme of this school was the resilience of coral ecosystems. It took place at the University of Seychelles, Anse Royale campus. Some thirty participants from Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Monaco, Seychelles and Tanzania took part. Some of them had already taken part in the Monaco Explorations Indian Ocean mission in 2022.

The Workshop on Mediterranean MPAs organized by Explorations de Monaco and its partners, MedFund, MedPAN and SPA/RAC took place in Barcelona on April 9, 2024 at the Barcelona World Trade Center. The two round tables were held as part of the Explorations de Monaco's Decade of the Ocean satellite event. The workshop was also part of the Decade's Marine Protected Areas Forum, which brought together 27 institutions.

What do we do?

The Société des Explorations de Monaco aims to carry out international collaborative missions that combine scientific research, public outreach and governmental cooperation.
The main themes guiding its action are the protection of megafauna, coral protection, new exploration technologies and the development of marine protected areas.

Indian Ocean Expedition

The new Monaco Explorations mission to the western Indian Ocean is the first stage of the “Monaco Explorations” project, approved as part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development 2021-2030.
The geographical area studied from October to November 2022 lies between Reunion Island, Mauritius and the Seychelles.

Across the world

From Macaronesia to Colombia, with a stopover in the Pacific, Explorations de Monaco has already covered
numerous regions.
New areas of study include the Mediterranean, Melanesia and the Indian Ocean.
