4 days of intense activity have been carried out in Aldabra since the arrival of the Indian Ocean expedition of Monaco Explorations on the site. The various scientific operations have been carried out at a steady pace.
The S.A. Agulhas II arrived in Aldabra on Wednesday 19 October 2022 at around 6:30 am. The relevant scientific teams disembarked in the morning.
One sunset and one sunrise later after Mauritius, the S.A. Agulhas II arrived in the town of Le Port in Reunion Island on 13 October. The presence of the ship in the town of Le Port aroused a lot of interest and Monaco Explorations team welcomed on board local personalities and journalists, school groups and associations throughout the afternoon.
The S.A. Agulhas II arrived in Mauritius in the middle of the day on 10 October for a two-day stopover, the official departure point for the Monaco Explorations expedition.
The South African oceanographic vessel S.A. Agulhas II, chartered by Monaco Explorations, left the port of Cape Town on October 3, 2022. It is now heading for Mauritius where it should arrive on October 10.
As part of the preparation of the next expedition to the Indian Ocean, Gilles Bessero, director of Monaco Explorations Society, went to Cape Town in South Africa on August 9. On the agenda: visit of the ship S.A. Agulhas II, finalization of the charter contract and review of the additional services required for the smooth running of the expedition.
At the beginning of July, the documentary film “Alick and Albert” directed by Douglas Watkins was honored in Spain, Australia and Italy.

Indian Ocean Mission. The Committee met on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Oceanographic Museum and auditioned six artists and finally chose two. They are Elsa Rigot and Rémi Leroy. After the call for residencies launched in November 2021, some sixty applications were examined and six artists were pre-selected in February for the final auditions.
In competition at the 19th International Oceanian Documentary Film Festival (FIFO) held in Papeete, French Polynesia, from February 5 to 13, 2022, the documentary “Alick and Albert” won a Special Jury Award.
