The S.A. Agulhas II has set sail

The South African oceanographic vessel S.A. Agulhas II, chartered by Monaco Explorations, left the port of Cape Town on October 3, 2022. It is now heading for Mauritius where it should arrive on October 10.

D-40: the Indian Ocean mission in full preparation.

As part of the preparation of the next expedition to the Indian Ocean, Gilles Bessero, director of Monaco Explorations Society, went to Cape Town in South Africa on August 9. On the agenda: visit of the ship S.A. Agulhas II, finalization of the charter contract and review of the additional services required for the smooth running of the expedition.

Alick and Albert honored in Spain, Australia and Italy

At the beginning of July, the documentary film “Alick and Albert” directed by Douglas Watkins was honored in Spain, Australia and Italy.

Indian Ocean Expedition: two artists in residence.

Indian Ocean Mission. The Committee met on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Oceanographic Museum and auditioned six artists and finally chose two. They are Elsa Rigot and Rémi Leroy. After the call for residencies launched in November 2021, some sixty applications were examined and six artists were pre-selected in February for the final auditions.

“Alick and Albert” Special Jury Award at FIFO 2022

In competition at the 19th International Oceanian Documentary Film Festival (FIFO) held in Papeete, French Polynesia, from February 5 to 13, 2022, the documentary “Alick and Albert” won a Special Jury Award.

The documentary film “Alick and Albert” is one of three documentaries selected for the ASIN Awards 2021. It is competing in six categories.

Call for an artist’s residence on board. Indian Ocean Expedition 2022

The Société des Explorations de Monaco is launching this call for expressions of interest for an artist’s residency on board the ship that will be chartered for its next expedition to the Indian Ocean, which is currently being prepared. This new expedition is the first part of the “Monaco Explorations” project approved as a contribution to the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development 2021-2030.

Alick and Albert : the film in preview in St-Tropez

On Wednesday 13 October 2021, the documentary film “Alick and Albert”, directed by Douglas Watkins, opened the 23rd edition of the Festival du Cinéma des Antipodes in Saint-Tropez in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and several personalities.
